The Aleppo chile is from the regions of Turkey and Syria and is also called the Halaby pepper. It falls in the 2,500 to 7,000 heat unit range on the Scoville heat unit scale and is a sun-dried chile with a deep orange almost red color, with a tangy tomato fruit-like flavor. Use in stews, soups, vegetable dishes, meats, seafood, and Turkish and Mediterranean dishes.
